Our Story

Owner and entrepreneur, Gin Louie, began producing tofu and bean sprouts in 1935 in the basement of his 500 sq ft store in the middle of Chinatown. They continued to make tofu and bean sprouts at this location until they outgrew it due to its popularity and moved to a larger location in the late 1950’s and then once again in the 1970’s where we are currently located in our 48,000 sq ft state of art manufacturing facility in the trendy South of Market area of San Francisco.

Wo Chong is the largest and oldest family run manufacturer of tofu and bean sprouts in Northern California. Since our beginning in 1935, we have continued to grow our business each and every year. In the beginning, we initially made firm tofu and now expanded our manufacturing to include organic tofu. In addition to our tofu product line, Wo Chong grows fresh bean sprouts, soy bean sprouts, clover sprouts and onion sprouts.


Our exquisite and unique recipe for making our well-known tofu has been with our family for over 80 years and is continued to be used to this day. We believe that this recipe is what makes our tofu so popular with our customers. Wo Chong always uses the highest quality ingredients and follows the highest food safety standards when manufacturing our various products.
